Dear Maddie,

You are growing to be such a kind, sweet, silly and only slightly sassy seven year old!  I love your heart and how you are nice to everyone and stand up for all of your friends.  You were so concerned about the homeless population on a recent trip downtown.  You just wanted to help the homeless and also mentioned how you wanted them to help themselves.  You love sharing your Shopkins with your friends and you love doing nice things for others.  Your manners are great, and we've had others tell us that about you.

You love doing crafty things, watching silly videos on the I pad, having play dates, singing, dancing, playing Barbies and doing the monkey bars.  I think you would do the monkey bars all day long if you could!  You are also into Shopkins and wanted a Shopkins party for your 7th birthday.  You pretty much planned your party as you are full of ideas!

1st grade has been a wonderful experience as you've made a lot of new friends and also have fun with your friends from last year.  It's fun to watch you with your friends as you are a fun loving, slightly loud coconut when you are with them.  You've taken a break from ice skating and taken up dance instead.  You continue to sing in choir and joined Daisy's as well this year.  Indian Princesses is something you are still enjoying very much.  You mentioned going back to gymnastics as you love to climb and have a very strong core.  (Unfortunately flexibility doesn't run in the family!)

You love to read and we've caught you sneaking books after lights are out at night all too often. Book buddies and library time are two of your favorite things that you do in school.  Actually, you like about everything, so that's wonderful! :)  The one thing you need to work on is not rushing through your work!  I always tell you to write neat, but that is something that you just don't seem too concerned about.  I've called you "Maddie nado" or "messy Maddie" for a while now, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Dad has fun taking you to school almost every day and you hold his hand almost the entire walk to school.

You are one awesome girl and your father and I are so incredibly proud of you.  We love you so much and feel so incredibly blessed to have you as our daughter.

Love you always,
Mom
