11 Months Old

Although we've been through this before, I am still so amazed by Emmie's development.  She is a little talker!  She is saying the following: ball, mama, dada, up, more, hi, book, nana, and attempting many more that aren't quite as clear.  This girl loves to make noise and I feel like all eyes are on us while grocery shopping, at story time, church, you name it. Sometimes she makes cute sounds and other times she just screams for the fun of it.  She loves to explore and doesn't like to sit still these days, which means she no longer cuddles before bedtime. :(  She loves reading books, flipping the pages and lifting the flaps.  She also loves to play with balls and will often be crawling with one in her hand.  She can roll the ball back and forth and often giggles while doing so.  She has also become more of a playmate to her siblings.  The three of them will crawl around the couch/ottoman chasing each other and making a game of it.  I call Emmie my little bird because she loves to perch herself up on the little trampoline and is so content hanging out on top of it, taking some jumps now and then.  She also will also climb into any hamper, bin or box she can find and will stay there for a while.  She has two top teeth and her two bottom teeth are very apparent as they have been working their way in for a while. This baby girl loves to eat and puts away A LOT of food.  Although she still loves her mama, she has gotten much better at going to other people.  She is also a trooper when it comes to breaking her schedule.  Her morning nap is pretty much dropped unless she shows signs that she needs it.  Fortunately, she is still a pretty good baby even without a nap.  It's pretty difficult for her to fall asleep in the stroller or car seat these days because she wants to see and listen to what's going on.  We adore this little one and can't believe she is almost a year old.  Not sure I'm quite ready for that!

Emmie attended her first CUBS game!  She had to have her own seat and was a busy body!

Maddie's 1st Day of School

Maddie was very excited about starting Kindergarten and she just couldn't wait to start.  Once she found out her teacher a few weeks before starting, it really felt real to her.  We attended Kindergarten Orientation and Maddie was a bit shy at first.  By the end of the 60 min. orientation, she was talking to everyone and told her teacher about her loose tooth.

We all walked Maddie to school on her first day.  She admitted that she was excited, but also a little bit scared.  She held it together the entire walk and was fine waiting in line.  However, she had a brief cry when the bell rang and they started heading inside.  Her cousin, Claire, is in her class and as soon as she saw her, she was fine.  She had a great first day and came out with a big smile on her face.  We went to dinner to celebrate and Maddie picked the restaurant.

Maddie continues to love school!  She checks her calendar each day to see what she is doing that day.  She is such an eager learner and shares much with us about what she is doing and who she plays with.  She had a few concerns with one little boy and told us he wasn't always very nice.  Apparently he asked if she would be his friend and she told him, "I will be your friend as long as you don't say anything mean."  So she is now friends with everyone.  Maddie also loves her teacher and and is proud to tell people who her teacher is.  We've been very happy with how well things are going and we look forward to all the new and exciting times ahead!

Maddie has always been a dress girl, but she surprised us by picking out her pink ruffle outfit for her first day.    Matt had to fix her hair for the pics!

Matt has talked about walking Maddie to school on her first day for years!
Silly Pic!

The kids line up and then head in!

Emerson's Baptism

Emmie was baptized the same day that she turned 10 months old.  We were able to have both sides of the family there for her very special occasion.  She was very curious during the baptism and was quite funny.  Pastor Carol commented that it was the most fun baptism she could remember.

 Emmie with her Godparents.

A "super" Godparent picture.  All of the Godparents with their Godchildren.
 Twin cousins! :)

 Charlie was the youngest guest!

Emmie wants some cake, which was delicious!!!

Face Painting

The kids just LOVE face paint...

Good thing the face painters are out and about at many summer events and outings! :)

10 Months Old!

We have a little mover and shaker!  Emerson loves to move and isn't happy when she is confined.  She puts everything in her mouth, so we need to watch her so closely.  She pulls up and scoots along the wall with ease.  She can go up the stairs very easily and she has a blast doing so.

Her top teeth are coming in!  She handles teething pretty well, although the top teeth seem to be a bit harder on her than the bottom two.

Emerson is an eater!!!  I really think she eats more than her older siblings and she eats about everything we give her.  Her favorites are still strawberries and watermelon and she shoves them down super quickly. Her eating style reminds me of Maddie, whom was a very messy eater.  She loves to feed herself, so food ends up all over her, her chair and the floor.  I have been cleaning up a lot these days!
Emmie has a new nickname....Baby Monster!  She gets into everything and is quick to destroy whatever Dane and Maddie are working on.  She dumps toys out of containers and pulls papers out of folders.  She loves to scream for fun and if she isn't getting what she wants.  Therefore, going out to eat has just gotten a bit more difficult with this one!  She can work her way out of a shopping cart since the buckles aren't the best.  She also has success standing up in restaurant high chairs.  This girl is keeping us on our toes!

Emerson enjoys stroller rides and LOVES to swing in the backyard and at the park.  She is into giving kisses, giving high 5's, blowing bubbles and making funny noises.  She also sings along if anyone starts singing.  She loves books and now picks out her favorites.  She likes lift the flap and touch and feel books.  When I read her one without flaps/touch elements, she protested and started reaching for a different book.  She loves to play and explore.

I say it all of the time, but she is growing up too fast.  We've enjoyed these last 10 months so much.  We continue to savor these sweet baby moments.

Emmie is over her Christening gown.  It was mine (or Laura's?) and it has been worn by Maddie, Ava and now, Emmie.
